Getting Therapy Shouldn’t Feel Out of Reach
Finding affordable therapy in Toronto shouldn’t mean choosing between your budget and your wellbeing. Many people fall into a gap where private counselling feels out of reach, but they don’t qualify for crisis services, and public waitlists can stretch for months.
Our Student Training Clinic offers low cost, evidence-based therapy for a flat $50 per session. You’ll work with a Master’s-level student therapist who is supervised by senior registered psychotherapists, in person at our Toronto clinic.
Start with a free 15-minute consultation. We’ll talk through what you’re looking for and help you decide if our student program is the right fit.
Common Challenges People Seeking Affordable Therapy Face
Many people looking for low cost therapy are carrying a lot at once, and the cost of support can feel like one more thing to worry about.
You may recognize yourself in some of these experiences:
Anxiety and Worry
You may find yourself overthinking, feeling on edge, or struggling with panic or social anxiety that makes everyday situations harder than they should be.
Life Transitions
Starting school, changing careers, moving, ending a relationship, or settling into a new city can leave you feeling unsteady, even when the change is a good one.
Relationship and Communication Challenges
Friendships, dating, family, and partners can bring conflict or confusion, especially when you’re still learning how to express your needs and set boundaries.
Feeling Stuck or Uncertain About the Future
You might want to move forward but not know where to start, or feel like everyone else has things figured out.
Low Mood and Depression
You may feel flat, sad, or unmotivated, or notice that things you used to enjoy no longer feel the same. Therapy offers a place to talk through what’s behind it and build small, steady ways to feel more like yourself.
Stress and Overwhelm
School, work, money, and relationships can pile up until you feel stretched too thin. Therapy can help you sort out what’s weighing on you and build ways to cope
Self-Doubt and Low Confidence
You may be hard on yourself, second-guess your decisions, or feel like you’re not measuring up, even when you’re doing your best.
Difficult Emotions
Feeling overwhelmed, irritable, or low can be hard to manage on your own. You’ll work on practical skills to understand your emotions and respond to them more steadily.
Burnout and Exhaustion
You may feel drained, unmotivated, or like you’re always trying to catch up. Therapy can help you find more sustainable routines.
Money Stress and Financial Worry
Worrying about rent, tuition, debt, or an unstable income can wear you down and affect your sleep, mood, and relationships. Therapy can help you manage the stress and anxiety that come with financial pressure so it feels less all-consuming.
Our Approach to Affordable Therapy
Many people come to therapy unsure whether they can afford to keep going, or worried that a lower price means lower quality. It’s a common concern, and you deserve care that’s both accessible and well supported.
At Radcliffe Psychotherapy Clinic, our Student Training Clinic pairs Master’s-level student therapists with close supervision from senior registered psychotherapists. You get a therapist who has time for you and fresh energy, backed by the experience of a clinical team. Whether you’re dealing with stress, anxiety, relationships, or a big life change, therapy can help you feel more grounded, capable, and supported.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does affordable therapy cost at your clinic?
Sessions with our student therapists are a flat $50 for 50 minutes. The price is the same every time, with no hidden fees, and your first 15-minute consultation is free.
Is low cost therapy as good as regular therapy?
The lower price reflects the training setting, not a lesser standard of care. Student therapists use the same evidence-based approaches as our senior team, and the supervision adds a second clinical perspective to your care. Because they’re still in training, the program is best for mild to moderate concerns. Specialized or complex mental health issues are typically more appropriate for our more senior therapists.
How long can I see my student therapist?
You can meet weekly or bi-weekly for as long as your therapist’s placement runs. When it ends, we’ll talk through your options in advance, including continuing with a new student at an affordable rate.
Do you offer virtual therapy in Toronto?
We offer secure online sessions as well as in-person appointments at our Toronto clinic, so you can choose what works for your schedule.
Are your student therapists qualified?
Our student therapists are completing their Master’s degrees in social work or counselling psychology or completing an equivalent CRPO-approved program. They work under the close supervision of senior registered psychotherapists, who guide their clinical work and are available to them throughout your care.
Can I claim student therapy sessions through insurance?
Student therapists aren’t registered clinicians, so many extended health plans won’t reimburse their sessions. Some insurance providers will provide coverage for sessions with the supervisor's name listed together with the student's name on the receipts, which we do provide. Check with your insurer to confirm your coverage options before booking if coverage matters to you.
How quickly can I start?
Many low cost programs in Ontario have long waitlists. We usually can offer a first appointment within about a week, though availability varies.
Not Sure Where To Start?
Our intake coordinator is here to help. They can answer your questions, guide you through our 15-minute consultation, and help you find the therapist that’s the right fit for you.

Hello, I'm Denise.
I can help guide you through our therapy process and find the right therapist for your needs.
